Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lead Drainage Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to lead the drainage discipline on major projects and support the growth of the department.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of drainage and stormwater management systems for infrastructure and development projects.
- Act as a primary point of contact for the drainage discipline on assigned projects. Depending on project scale, this may require deputizing for the drainage design manager for certain duties.
- Manage and coordinate hydraulic and hydrological modelling, including flood risk assessments and drainage impact studies.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team, ensuring compliance with relevant design standards, codes, and best practices.
- Review, validate, and approve design calculations, drawings, and reports prepared by early and mid-career professionals.
- Develop and implement water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) solutions.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to secure project approvals and resolve technical issues.
- Preparing technical responses to bids and ‘level of effort’ estimates for prospective work for the drainage team.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering technical capability and professional growth.
- Stay up to date with emerging drainage technologies, modelling tools, and industry regulations to enhance project outcomes.
- Hydraulic and System design of the complex environment to meet site-specific requirements.
- Apply innovative ideas, technology, and value engineering solutions.
- Undertake hydrologic modeling, calculations, drawings, report writing, design review, and supervision.
- Coordinating with the CAD / BIM / 3-D modeling teams on projects.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Hydraulic/ Hydrology/ Water Engineering. A Master’s degree in Water Engineering/Hydrology would be an advantage.
- Minimum 20 years experience in water engineering, including stormwater drainage design in civil and transport projects, stormwater management, and planning.
- Sound knowledge of principles of hydrology and hydraulics.
- Demonstrated understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling/design software packages used in the design of surface drainage, piped networks, cross drainage, and flood analysis, i.e., CAD skills, SWMM, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS knowledge
- Experience with InfoWorks ICM, 1D/2D is compulsory.
- Excellent command with GIS and CAD tools such as ArcMap, QGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microstation.
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and encourage collaboration
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deliver results within the project timeline.
- Experience estimating work for bids of medium scale and associated technical submissions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- A collegiate, team-player attitude
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) qualified (or equivalent) or well-progressed towards qualification.
- Preferably already hold MME Engineer Registration or must be attained within six months. Experience in Qatar and the Middle East is a plus.
