In this Senior Road Freight Operations Coordinator position

  • Support administration of warehouse and manual handling plans and processes for warehouse/ distribution facilities
  • Receive, sort and process incoming/ outgoing materials/ cargo, parts, products, supplies and equipment according to defined schedules, established procedures and regulations
  • Verify and endorse the accurate receipt and issue of cargo against relevant documents
  • Load and unload materials on to or off pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand and ensure cargo is stored in their allocated positions
  • Load materials and cargo into vehicles/ truck/ container and uses hand tools to install strapping, bracing and padding
  • Undertake cargo movement, complying with regulations and internal procedures and update shipment status accordingly
  • Assist in stock counts and reconciliation of any stock discrepancy, monitoring of cycle and turnaround time of order processing
  • Update inventory records including inventory records of customer stock, maintain inventory at defined maximum/ minimum levels and perform stock audits to ensure integrity and security of stock
  • Update information in computerized systems such as logs, packing lists, pick tickets, invoices, inventories, transfer/ delivery tickets, orders/ receipts, etc. and generate delivery/ shipping documents
  • Ensure supply of raw materials and components to production areas, record the entry of finished products to the corresponding warehouse and prepare required reports
  • Guide and perform the physical handling of cargo, accurate implementation of all receiving and order processing operations, picking and bulking operations and ensure that cargo is packed according to request
  • Identify and resolve recurring issues and suggest modifications related to warehouse and manual handling work methods focusing on promoting efficiency, faster service and lower costs
  • May provide functional guidance, advice or training to less experienced positions
  • Manage and execute warehouse/distribution center activities related to movement, tools, and packaging (e.g. pickers and packers)
  • Pack items for shipment according to specifications
  • Receive or inspect goods, scan and verify items against the shipment record
  • Manage transshipment and sorting activities (e.g. within sorting centers)
  • Operate gas or electric powered forklift truck to move, stack, load or unload materials, parts and goods
  • Consolidate shipments
  • Perform Unit load devices
  • Coordinate food handling activities including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and return handling for food products in line with food safety and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and record temperature for inbound, storage and outbound food products, including chilled, frozen and ambient items, and raise any temperature deviations for immediate corrective action.
  • Ensure proper segregation, handling and storage of food items to prevent contamination, cross-contamination, product damage, expiry issues and quality complaints.
  • Check product condition, packaging integrity, expiry dates, batch details and labeling during receiving, storage, picking and dispatch activities.
  • Maintain food handling records including temperature logs, cleaning records, inspection checklists, corrective actions, inbound/outbound records and customer-specific documentation.
  • Support hygiene inspections and ensure food handling areas, equipment, pallets, MHE and storage locations are clean, sanitized and suitable for food operations.
  • Ensure employees involved in food handling follow personal hygiene, PPE, handwashing, illness reporting and good housekeeping requirements.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, QA/HSSEQ teams and customers on food safety requirements, audit preparation, non-conformities, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support staff awareness and training related to basic food safety, hygiene, cold chain handling, temperature control and safe manual handling of food products.

Food Handling / Certification Requirements

Food handling or food safety training/certification is preferred or required based on customer and local regulatory requirements. Knowledge of basic food hygiene, HACCP principles, GMP, cold chain handling, temperature monitoring, allergen/cross-contamination prevention, cleaning and sanitation practices, personal hygiene requirements, expiry control and product traceability are required.
