Qatar Airways (QR) is pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Group Risk, Safety & Security team as a Manager, Safety Management System (SMS), to be based in Doha, Qatar.

As the Manager, SMS, you will play a key role in managing the SMS implementation within the Technical Division as well as being the designated focal point for the development, administration and maintenance of effective safety management processes.

Specific Responsibilities For The Role Include

• Develop, administer and maintain effective safety management processes across Technical Division to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Promote the safety policy and foster a positive safety culture within QR Technical Division in coordination with Technical Management to help achieve the safety objectives of the organization.
• Develop and ensure the implementation of safety performance monitoring and measurement program to help monitor the safety performance and health of the organization.
• Responsible for the continuous development and improvement of Safety Management Systems to ensure it remains relevant and accurate.
• Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment and management through the establishment of proper processes and tools within Technical Division.
• Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks to an acceptable level in coordination with Technical Management to ensure timely closure
• Provide periodic reports on safety performance to the Safety Action Group / Safety Review Board meetings to ensure timely action is taken where appropriate.
• Ensure safety performance is monitored against the safety policy and objectives using dedicated safety performance indicators and targets within the organization.
• Document and maintain key safety management processes in line with applicable regulations to ensure conformity and effectiveness through periodic review.
• Ensure that there is safety training available, and that it meets acceptable standards through inclusion of human factor issues identified from occurrence investigations, audit findings and other safety related changes in the organization.
• Assist in establishing safety communication to ensure that personnel are aware of the safety management activities, safety critical information are conveyed, and regular meetings with personnel used to communicate safety matters.
• Facilitate the Safety Action Group in carrying out hazard identification from occurrence investigations and audit findings as well as in reviewing the effectiveness of previous safety actions and safety promotions.
• Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department

Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of job-related experience
• Relevant College or University qualification to min Bachelor’s level in Aeronautical/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or relevant major.
• 8-year experience in the Continuing Airworthiness / Maintenance organization environment/ Quality Assurance
• Safety management experience
• 3 years as an internal /certified auditor.
• Training on QCAA/EASA regulations
• Training on SMS Requirements
• Training on IOSA Requirements
• Knowledge of ICAO standards and European requirements on safety management
• Training on Accident / Incident investigations
• Training on Root Cause Analysis
• Received training on at least 2 aircraft types operated by Qatar Airways, Training on auditing techniques
