1. Position Summary The Consultant Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon provides advanced surgical and non-surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital, developmental, and traumatic musculoskeletal conditions. The role requires a Tier-1, Western-trained consultant with extensive experience in complex pediatric orthopaedic procedures within a tertiary care setting.

2. Minimum Qualifications & Licensing Requirements Tier-1 Accepted Qualifications One of the following (or equivalent):

  • UK CCT / CESR (Trauma & Orthopaedics – Pediatric focus)
  • American Board Certification (Orthopaedic Surgery + Pediatric Orthopaedics fellowship)
  • Canadian RCPSC Fellowship
  • Irish CSCST
  • Australian FRACS (Orthopaedic Surgery – Pediatric)
  • German Facharzt (Orthopaedics / Pediatric Orthopaedics)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years post-consultant experience in pediatric orthopaedic surgery.
  • Demonstrated case volume in complex deformity correction and trauma.

Licensing

  • Eligible for DOH or DHA Consultant License.
  • DataFlow verification and DOH/DHA exam or exemption according to Tier-1 status.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and surgically treat the full spectrum of pediatric orthopaedic conditions, including:
    • Congenital limb and foot deformities
    • Hip disorders (DDH, Perthes, SCFE)
    • Limb length discrepancy
    • Scoliosis and spine deformity (if trained)
    • Neuromuscular conditions (CP, spina bifida)
    • Pediatric fractures and trauma
  • Perform corrective surgery, reconstructive procedures, and guided growth techniques.
  • Conduct outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and perioperative management.
  • Collaborate closely with pediatricians, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, and radiology teams.
  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation and adhere to UAE clinical standards.
