Duties And Responsibilities
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer shall perform advanced, complex engineering assignments using conventional or innovative engineering techniques and analyses. At this level, the Engineer is fully proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications.
Shall be well versed in performing design calculations related to all usual mechanical systems including but not limited to HVAC, hydraulic calculations, surge analysis, ventilation systems and fire fighting systems
Understands all related codes and their application to the project; and oversees/manages the interface with local agencies / local authorities to coordinate design standards usage and required approvals’ process.
Is in charge of the development of the project mechanical specifications, drawings and design criteria as well as of the coordination/integration with all the different stakeholders.
Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately and coordinates the activities of all mechanical engineering staff; and coordinates with the Mechanical Design Lead.
Is in charge of the preparation of contract drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Work closely with the discipline lead, project managers, and other project engineers to make sure that the design is well coordinated, and all applicable standards are met.
Regularly interfaces with other engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
Is able to review contract drawings, specifications and other procurement materials that have been prepared by others and provides comments on the results of the reviews.
Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses as required.
Is able to review Designers’ specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Provides technical guidance to CAD designer/drafters, designers and engineers working on the same project.
Experience And Qualifications
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 12 years of related work experience in design of infrastructure facilities including water/wastewater pump station projects, wastewater treatment plants, utility buildings district cooling facilities, etc
Must have experience in the design of large industrial or infrastructural projects is essential
Knowledge and experience with design of large-scale mechanical systems and infrastructure
Thorough understanding of BS standards/ local Regulations and Mechanical Codes and Standards.
Fluent in English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
GCC Experience Is Preferred.
Registration with MME (Qatar) is mandatory to function as an Engineer in Qatar.
