About the job

Job Purpose

  • Develops, maintains and coordinates a comprehensive crisis management system to ensure adherence to the Company’s emergency management principles.

Job Context & Major Challenges

  • The main challenge will be getting agreement on common crisis management and emergency philosophies and procedures between all the different parties involved. Having to deal with many entities that may have different agendas requires significant problem solving skills.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Develops coordinates, facilitates and maintains Company crisis and emergency response management policies and procedures and emergency response planning activities to ensure adherence to the Company emergency management principles of safeguarding people, protecting environment, protecting company assets and protect company reputation.
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates crisis and emergency training to all constituents of the Company including the Corporate Response Team, Incident Management Team and Incident Command Team to prepare them to operate in high stress situations for response operations and to ensure the level of readiness of response is adequate.
  • Ensures alignment of emergency response philosophies and procedures between the Company operating assets and projects to ensure consistent adherence to policy.
  • Advises incident investigations, compiling findings and recommendations for corrective actions into summary reports using industry standards methods and tools to ensure alignment with crisis management and emergency principles.
  • Provides inputs to Business Continuity Plans (BCP) to facilitate, implement, and maintain effective business continuity plans in order to reduce the possibility that operations will be interrupted in the event of any emergency.
  • Designs, leads and audits emergency response facilities such as Incident Management Centres and Strategic Response Management Centre at Company locations to ensure a state of readiness.
  • Supports Loss Prevention engineering for major incidents or disaster scenario development through dispersion and risk modelling software packages to ensure that adequate mitigation plans are in place to handle such scenarios.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Environment studies or equivalent.

Knowledge and/or Experience

  • 6 years’ experience in crisis management or emergency response in the oil and gas industry including onshore and offshore operations.
