We are hiring Insurance Motor Underwriting Manager for our Motor Department in our Qatar branch

Summary:

Motor UW Manager leads the motor department and makes sure that there is proper implementation of Underwriting Guidelines and Authority Limits. Performs regular Risk Assessment and Quality Assurance reviews. Promotes the Motor Insurance and seek new opportunities to maintain profitable growth. Gathers Market Intelligence and provides the Management with regular updates on new products, rating trend, services, and technology to reshape the value proposition. Implements Motor Strategy and achieves objectives & budget (Top / bottom Line, KPI’s)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper implementation of the Motor Department Policies and Procedures and recommends changes for improvement
  • Examine insurance proposals and perform risk assessments according to the likelihood of claims
  • Prepare offers and ensure that all documents are complete and that all requirements are in accordance with the terms and conditions that enable him to quote
  • Ensure proper implementation of tariff and renewal rules
  • Works closely with the motor claims team (loss ratio, severity, Jumbo claims, new practices…
  • Gather and assesses information related to client profile, and ensure balance between attracting and retaining customers
  • Negotiate premiums and terms for non-standard risks with internal and external customers, and ensure that premiums are competitive, and accounts remain profitable
  • Keep detailed and accurate records and ensure proper and adequate feeding of data into the computer system.
  • Issue quotes as per UW guidelines and agreed upon SLAs
  • Keeps the communication channel with other business units
  • Prepare monthly report to Country Manager regarding the production activities of the Motor Department
  • Communicate renewal list well in advance to producers
  • Handle market facing activities (regular visits to brokers, agents, partners, and direct customers) and research new products, opportunities, tariffs, commissions, and trends
  • Keep an eye on any regulatory updates and make sure to share with the HO Technical team
  • Handle referrals as per agreed upon SLAs and authority limits
  • Assist other stakeholders in building the annual budget and do the proper follow up
  • Approve the annual leaves of his/her staff and ensures replacement during staff absence
  • Determine the training needs of his/her staff
  • Monitor, guide and evaluate the performance of his/her staff
  • Attend seminars as per the approved budget
  • Prepare the renewal notice on monthly basis, as per TAT defined in the SLA
  • Provide orientation and on the job training of new employees and trainees

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in the Insurance industry minimum 5 of them in the Motor line
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or Insurance Studies, CII certification is a plus
  • Considerable Knowledge in motor vehicles, types, models and engine power
