About this role
The MECHANICAL Engineer will be accountable to supervise a team of senior maintenance technicians and support staff to fulfill the day to day MECHANICAL maintenance activities at the power and desalination plant. In addition to supporting the management of the major outages of the plant through the provision of a gas turbine long-term service agreement, ensuring that the plant meets Safety, Environmental, availability, reliability, efficiency, and budgetary targets.
Lead a team of MECHANICAL technicians and support staff to fulfill the day to day MECHANICAL maintenance activities at the power and desalination plant.
Practical knowledge of major MECHANICAL component maintenance associated with GT, ST HRSG in combined cycle configuration and desalination processes.
Good MECHANICAL engineering foundation and practical knowledge of modern power plant and desalination plant technologies
Strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environment management systems, Quality assurance and Safety rules.
Ability to recognize safety issues and hazards to personnel, and to act on own initiative in preventing incidents
Assists to manage all MECHANICAL maintenance activities associated with defect and planned maintenance programmes, through a team of site based engineers, technicians with support from contract staff. Assists in development of the short and long term MECHANICAL maintenance strategy for the plant and equipment the development of the MECHANICAL maintenance team to support that strategy.
Day to day management of MECHANICAL maintenance activities in accordance with OEM manuals, company procedures and any legal/contractual requirements
Ensure that the plant meets Safety, Environmental, availability, reliability, efficiency, budgetary targets whilst complying with legal and contractual requirements.•Assists to establish the appropriate procedures and computerized MECHANICAL maintenance management processes as applicable to prudent engineering standards.
Performs troubleshooting activities as necessary to identify failure conditions and rectifies defects found.
Ensures maintenance tasks are completed by the Technicians in accordance to Work Orders generated in CMMS.
Discusses with the Lead MECHANICAL Engineer planned and unplanned jobs undertaken. Supports the Lead Engineer for outage planning and execution•Assists the Lead Engineer in planning and budget preparation processes. Ensures work done notes on maintenance carried out is documented in CMMS Ensures adequate inventories of spares and consumables are maintained Places requisitions for purchase of required spares and consumables Motivation and leadership of colleagues and subordinates•Acts as a mentor and recommends the appropriate training for the MECHANICAL Technicians. Practical knowledge of the isolation of plants.
Knowledge of international health & safety working practices Computer literacy
Good command of English Language
What you need to bring
An engineering-related education to diploma level in Mechanical Engineering.
At least 5-7 years of relevant experience.
Previous employment will have provided experience at a similar level and status within the discipline of MECHANICAL maintenance.
Preferably should have practical knowledge and exposure of Gas Turbine technology and multistage Desalination plant
