Job Description

This position reports directly to the Asset Manager.

Accountabilities:

Lead the multi-disciplinary team (Reservoir Development and Exploration) to define and mature short and long-term development projects in one of Al Shaheen Assets. This encompasses different reservoirs at different levels of maturation. The team will consist of +8 team members (Geologists, Geophysicists, Reservoir Engineers, and Production Technologists). The team is responsible for developing the most appropriate tools (geological / reservoir models) in order to identify and mature development opportunities to feed future developments phases ranging from in-fill wells to new areas development in addition to maturing appraisal opportunities.

  • Follow and embed the Life-Saving Rules
  • Drive an incident-free environment through establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture role model safety behaviors and take corrective action wherever necessary
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with HSE legislation, Company standards and procedures
  • Drive the team to embed safety culture during the day to day tasks.

The main activities carried out:

  • Development Studies & Explorations:
  • Responsible for defining new projects and opportunities (existing wells, new wells, FDP)
  • In charge of getting the wells validated until the sanction stage and providing all required data for Well Statement Of Requirements process leaded by the Operations Team.
  • Accountable for undertaking studies and modeling work (static and dynamic) to be used for development projects
  • Carry development studies based on identified projects and maintain static and dynamic models
  • Determine the appraisal and exploration studies required and provide timeline in accordance to drilling schedule
  • Lead all disciplines and assurance reviews with Disciplines Heads within the department and accountable of studies and models endorsement
  • Prepare all required documents to present the cases for internal (Assurance NOC process) and shareholders validation in coordination with relevant departments
  • In charge of WAG area future studies and screening, and contribute to the evaluation of other EOR techniques (SWIM, polymer…) lead by EOR team
  • Provide input for the Annual Reserves exercise and review the teams background work
  • In charge of internal reviews within the team ensuring best practices are well followed
  • Responsible for the timely delivery and with high quality of all asset studies and models
  • Tools and models:
  • Lead the team to model reservoirs and wells
  • Responsible for all internal models (Full Field and Sector models)
  • Responsible for building on other Asset’s modelling methodology to capture and implement best practices
  • Responsible for defining the strategy related to reservoir models
  • Technology identification and application (in conjunction with Disciplines)
  • Documentation during stage gate process of maturation of opportunities
  • Coordinate with RGS Disciplines on the development of models
  • Reporting and Planning:
  • Plan documentation during stage gate process e.g., decision support packs for different projects
  • Prepare the integrated plan for all undertaken projects, studies and models
  • Prepare the detailed plans for every single project
  • Report progress of performed studies and models
  • Future developments support
  • Identify and propose the initiation of studies for the asset reservoirs
  • Adhere to NOC Studies Process

 

  • Leadership
  • Provide leadership and coaching to all direct reports; set objectives and manage performance
  • Provide regular feedback and give guidance on improvements where necessary
  • Ensure direct reports have relevant training and support in developing capabilities to fulfil their roles
  • Uphold and be a role model for the Company’s core values and leadership behaviors
  • Support the drive for Qatarisation
  • Coach young professionals and ensure close follow-up of their PDP’s
  • Budget and Resources
  • Provide input into the development of the annual Asset budget and ensure its implementation
  • Conduct financial prudence in all decisions; approve operational expenses within level of authority
  • Responsible for planning and forecasting resources needed in order to maintain a fully operational team
  • Manage resources within agreed headcount and in accordance with NOC’s manpower budget governance process
  • Accountable for new initiatives for the Asset for cost savings as per the yearly goals

Profile Required

  • Master Degree or Bachelor Degree with relevant industry experience in reservoir or geosciences discipline
  • At least 15 years proven experience in similar roles or related roles in the oil and gas environment
  • At least 5 years’ proven experience as a Team Lead of a multi-disciplinary team of +6 individuals
  • Proven experience of work in multidisciplinary teams
  • Subsurface discipline background
  • Proven experience in carbonate reservoirs
  • Expert in offshore oil and gas industry operations at the leadership level
  • Ability to engage, influence and manage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven communication and collaboration skills
  • Commercial and business acumen / Ability to influence business decision making
  • Strong networking skills externally and internally
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
