About the job

Mesaieed International School – Primary Campus is a thriving, happy and vibrant school with high aspirations for its students, staff, and the diverse community it serves.

Our modern school is the heart of a kind and welcoming community – providing education for 1,100 children, aged 3-18 years, representing over 30 different nationalities. We are proud to be a Bilingual and Multilingual SMART School – an accreditation that recognises the on-going effort we make to ensure our staff understand the research, best practises and approaches that make a real difference to the lives of bilingual multilingual learners and their families.

Your leadership will be an important part of how we support this incredible community to thrive. We follow the National Curriculum for England and have a team of committed staff who motivate and challenge our children, enabling them to achieve their very best. The QatarEnergy values are reflected in everything we do, so the responsibility, excellence, respect, collaboration, and integrity you bring to the school will be key as we push our teaching to the next level.

We are looking for a talented, experienced, and successful leader with hands-on knowledge of curriculum design and assessment, specifically regarding the non-core subjects. You will lead as we realise our vision for a holistic curriculum, one that drives progress across non-core subjects with the same rigour and depth that our children experience in English and mathematics. We have an exciting challenge ahead of us, to implement a curriculum that reflects our mission, recognises the multi-national nature of the school and which supports Qatar national identity and culture and Islamic values. Our curriculum will enable all pupils to build a sophisticated web of knowledge, skills, and key concepts across all subjects. This role will allow you to build on the progress and achievements that the school has recently accomplished whilst offering future challenges requiring innovative and creative thinking.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding leader to play a substantial role in shaping our school’s future, leading in an environment of professional autonomy and trust, supported by an ambitious forward-thinking leadership team. This is an exciting and evolving time in our development as we continue to strive for excellence in all areas of our school.

The successful applicant will demonstrate that they are an excellent classroom practitioner and will play a crucial role within our middle leadership team.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a vision for outstanding curriculum provision across the primary school
  • Has experience of and success in leading curriculum design
  • Is confident with all forms of assessment in core and non-core subjects
  • Has a secure understanding of an evidenced based, contextually driven school improvement cycle
  • Has up to date knowledge of the National Curriculum for England and recent curriculum developments
  • Is skilled at motivating and engaging staff to secure the commitment from all colleagues to drive the school forward
  • Can lead on professional development to equip staff to plan successfully and achieve outstanding learning opportunities for all children
  • Has excellent knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment from the EYFS to Year 6
  • Understands the differing needs of all learners including BML children
