Assistant Resident Engineer – Pumping Station

About the Role

The Assistant Resident Engineer will assist the Resident Engineer and wider construction supervision team in administering the day-to-day activities pertaining to the construction of a sewage treatment plant and pump station.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

  • Assist the Resident Engineer in the supervision of sewage treatment plant and pumping stations
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing shop drawings, design proposals and method statements
  • Coordinate with design review team for resolution of issues pertaining to design
  • Maintain a daily log and review daily reports being compiled by the inspectors
  • Lead, assist and supervise the performance of inspectors and surveyors on site
  • Lead meetings with the contractor and other parties related to his work
  • Ensure HSE goals are achieved and HSE policies are implemented
  • Participate in HSE issues as required by the Project Manager and Resident Engineer
  • Monitor and measure performed work; record and display progress vs. programmed work

Candidate Specification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional membership with an international institution would be advantageous
  • Demonstrable experience in all aspects of supervision in pump stations and large STWs involved in construction of heavy water retention structures
  • Demonstrable experience in the technical proposal’s evaluation and its constructability, technology deployment, solving the technical problems
  • Essential to have previous experience in managing similar works and must have work experience in similar or larger size sewage treatment works/pump station projects/water retaining structures
  • Knowledge and experience HSE aspects of the construction
  • Able to evaluate and monitor the construction progress of work in accordance with the submitted Breakdown Structures (Work, Cost and Resources)
  • Must have experience in monitoring and inspecting the construction works to assure that materials and workmanship conform to the contractual requirements and ensuring the HSE and welfare requirement is being carried out in compliance
  • Advise any failure to comply with the PPP agreement’s timelines and in the event of an unsatisfactory rate of progress
  • Carryout periodical site inspections, identify any defects and deviations of the works from contractual requirements and assist in preparation of such conformance report
