About the job

Purpose:

To establish and maintain all GL/ Suspense accounts integrity including:

  • Lead a team responsible for the development, implementation and program management of a consolidated solution for all Reconciliation Services across the Bank
  • Controlling and reviewing all GL, Suspense, Sundry accounts reconciliations.
  • Monitoring the integrity of the general ledger accounts, identifying, communicating and resolving issues relate to un-reconciled balances.
  • Liaising with Finance, Ops Risk, Internal and External Audit in relation to GL/Suspense accounts balance reporting and ad-hoc task/assignments.
  • Quality dashboard preparation, management reporting, and opportunity identification

Key Responsibilities:

  • NOSTRO/ Dividend/ Central Bank/ ATM GL/ Sundry/ Suspense accounts reconciliation & monitoring of aging analysis.
  • Visa Card/ MasterCard/ Diners including Issuing & Acquiring – Debit & Credit Card GL reconciliation & monitoring of outstanding items.
  • Automation of all manual reconciliation processes with proactive controls for exception management.
  • Reviewing the transaction defects based on root-cause reports and identifying/proposing robotic automation solutions with enhanced controls.
  • Monitoring and effectiveness of overall reconciliation quality including auditing via spot checks.
  • Ensuring accounts are reconciled from the GL to an appropriate source.
  • Tracking un-reconciled outstanding balances and clearing issues.
  • Escalation of issues as required.
  • Understanding and approving the risk assessment, procedures and level of evidence required to complete a reconciliation.
  • Build and maintain strong internal working relationships across the Bank
  • Success will be measured on the reduction of platforms, breaks, audit points, cost and un-reconciled balances
  • Identify key productivity measures for the recon processes and present updates to senior management regularly
  • Establish a detailed process documentation for performing reconciliation and maintain documents to ensure they are current and result in the best operational service and delivery
  • Establish controls to ensure reconciliation is performed in a timely manner implementing a process to close the book daily
  • Optimized usage and configuration of FIS Data Integrity Manager as holistic global enterprise reconciliation solution for the Bank
  • ·Recruiting, training, developing, leading, motivating a team to deliver high-quality services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Finance or equivalent

Minimum Experience:

10+ years’ relevant experience with 3+ years in a managerial role.

Systems experience:

Expertise / knowledge of FIS “Data Integrity Manager” a major plus

Advanced Microsoft excel including dynamic excel presentation.

Knowledge of robotic tools for process automation.

Knowledge of Misys/Equation/Finacle/ICBS/ credit cards systems.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Significant experience in performing/reviewing GL/Suspense reconciliations;
  • Experience in investigating and resolving un-reconciled balances in the GL/ Suspense;
  • Knowledge of financial accounting of retail and corporate products;
  • Project management;
  • Co-ordination of multiple teams;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
