Job Purpose:

We are seeking to recruit an experienced equity analyst to join our Doha-based Asset/Equity management team. The new team member will assist in the day-to-day management of the equity investments by conducting research, generating investment ideas, and monitoring positions.

Specific Accountability:

  • Assist the portfolio manager by providing industry insight, bottom-up fundamental research, and actionable stock recommendations using expertise to positively impact the performance of equity investments.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research.
  • Perform complex financial modeling and valuation.
  • Assist in developing investment strategies and build asset-allocation models to maximize performance and manage risk.
  • Generate periodic reports on portfolio performance/ return attribution analysis/ benchmarking.
  • Daily monitoring of portfolio holdings for corporate actions and relevant events; liaise with back office and risk management teams.
  • Preparing material for presentation of investment opportunities and regular updates to management.
  • Develop and sustain frequent contacts with management teams and industry sources utilizing company/industry publications, sell-side analysts, etc. to drive insights.
  • Assist with daily trading execution and documentation.
  • Support in analysis, recommendation, and monitoring of local and international equity markets
  • Monitoring local and international news, economic updates, and other monetary and fiscal drivers
  • Review and assess fund manager performance in line with strategy
  • Analysis of financial statements
  • Preparing financial models and presentations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A generalist with experience in Equity Research MENA exposure is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Solid quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and strong Excel modeling skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and enjoy contributing in a cooperative and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong communication skills – able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Capable of developing independent opinion and defending own views.
  • Experience using Bloomberg.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Post Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline. A CA/CFA is highly desirable.
  • Arabic speaking is a plus, but not necessary.
