About The Role

As First Commis Chef, you will deliver exceptional service in all areas of the kitchen operation by ensuring efficient and professional processing of passenger requirements. You will act as an ambassador for the Qatar Airways premium product. You will understand and demonstrates at all times the importance of upholding the highest personal and professional standards. You will have a positive and passionate attitude towards the Qatar Airways customers and Qatar Airways.

Your Key Accountabilities

  • Performs daily operational tasks as per standard operating procedures i.e. Setting up of buffets and kitchen areas
  • Ensure that product knowledge of all food items served is attained so that customers receive accurate information about the various food items services during service.
  • Responsible for marshalling and providing guidance to the 2nd Commis Chefs on duty.
  • Provides operational updates and communicates daily instances to the Chef De Partie
  • Liaises with other internal departments particularly Food and Beverage unit to ensure that both departments remain updates with current trends.
  • Works collectively and amicably with various team members to ensure a positive team environment.
  • Ensure that visual appearance of the kitchen area is maintained at all times by reporting faulty equipment, furniture or items.
  • Assist in the preparation of certain food items as directed by the Demi Chef De Partie.
  • Ensure that all kitchen stocks are utilized on the basis of first-in, first-out, (FIFO) ensuring that the oldest stock items recorded as utilized first so that items do not expire and only the freshest stock is utilized.


About You

A successful candidate should possess the following experience and qualifications:

  • High School Diploma is required, Culinary Arts Degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of job-related experience preferably working as a First Commis Chef.
  • Sushi skills are desirable.
  • Ability to foster teamwork among team members
  • Strong Command of English Language
  • Be aware of employee training needs and qualifications.
  • Ability to self-assess and recommend to the Demi Chef de Partie for any training needs that might be a requirement.
