University of Doha for Science and Technology – Marketing and Communications Directorate is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Manager, Communications. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, ,to develop and implement UDST ’s strategies for Communications to support and advance UDST’s brand and positioning in the market. To manage and promote the reputation and public image of UDST as well as ensure consistent and brand supportive internal and external messaging through established communication channels within UDST community.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support the development of the Marketing and Communications business plan in alignment with UDST’s strategy and develop a communication plan aligned with the marketing and branding plan incorporating the use of traditional and digital channels and media to support and enhance UDST ’s brand positioning.

The successful candidate will develop strong working relationships with media and serve as the key contact to oversee and manage all media interactions and to obtain optimized amount of earned media. S/He will ensure that UDST accomplishments are effectively and strategically communicated in the national and international media on a regular basis to strengthen brand positioning.

The incumbent will support the Director, Marketing and Communications in guiding and preparing senior management and academic staff in their capacity as UDST representatives during media interviews and speaking engagements to ensure continuity and coordination of strategic messages and approaches with UDST’s various stakeholders.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Student Affairs Division, all Business Units and Senior / Executive management to develop plans for and execute on events that deliver strategic value, student experience and brand development.

The incumbent will manage all communications crisis management efforts and provide support to senior management to determine the best approach to potential issues that could impact UDST and recommend measures to mitigate any reputational damage, communicating UDST positions to media and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will handle the issues’ management and message development during emergency and crisis situations and monitor existing and emerging issues that could impact UDST’s brand. S/He will extend support when needed to other stakeholders for content management of UDST’s intranet site, electronic signage and production of newsletter, flyers and internal events.

The successful candidate will manage copywriting for all publications, marketing and promotional materials, speeches, presentations and news releases to ensure alignment with UDST communications strategies and plans and review / prepare reports and feedback, to evaluate the effectiveness of existing and proposed strategies for communications and public relations and their contribution to the achievement of strategic goals.

The successful candidate will provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on UDST’s Employee Performance Management framework to ensure continual high performance of employees in alignment with the UDST’s mission and mandate.

The incumbent will contribute to the development of workforce plans for Marketing and Communications in collaboration with Human Capital and towards the recruitment of talent within Marketing and Communications. S/He will contribute to the development of employees by identifying appropriate learning and development opportunities.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, processes, and guidelines governing all aspects of Communications and perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:

Master’s degree in Marketing and Communications or related field required.

Professional certification preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in communications or related fields with a minimum of 3 years of managerial experience.

Language:

Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic language required.
