Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitor patient’s vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing rate during exams
• Prepare equipment and supplies for examinations such as x-rays, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
• Administer medications for various conditions, including asthma attacks, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and asthma
• Teach patients about their condition, how to manage it, and how to cope with the stress of living with a chronic disease
• Conduct diagnostic tests such as chest X-rays or sputum cultures to identify the cause of illness
• Educate patients about their condition and the treatments they are receiving
• Record patient’s medical histories and physical exam findings in their files to track their progress over time
• Observe patients during examinations to ensure that they are safe and comfortable
• Administer breathing tests such as spirometry to measure lung function

Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing preferred
• Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice
• Certification in CPR
• 2 years of experience in a healthcare-related field preferred
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism during stressful times
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Dedicated to providing the best patient care possible
• Must have a general working knowledge of computers and department-specific software
