About the role

As a member of the Data Protection Office, you will be responsible for providing specialist expertise and advice on the monitoring of and adherence to relevant national and international privacy and data protection requirements.

Some of the tasks include:

  • Provide subject matter advice to departmental management and business users on compliance with Qatar Airways’ Global Privacy Program, including the operational aspects of the corresponding compliance measures.
  • Assess completed Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) Questionnaires and work with the corresponding business users to obtain all the relevant information to allow the completion of a DPIA Report.
  • Draft DPIA Reports with legally compliant recommendations that are that are aimed at eliminating or mitigating the corresponding risks and are tailored to the specific business environment they relate to.
  • Assist the business users in understanding the different aspects of a DPIA Report and its recommendations.
  • Timely draft contractual documents related to privacy and data protection, including but not limited to data processing agreements.
  • Cease every interaction with internal or external stakeholders as an opportunity to proactively monitor compliance with Qatar Airways’ Global Privacy Program and to identify instances or risks of non-compliance.
  • Negotiate, draft and implement a wide variety of simple and complex commercial agreements.
  • Development and management of strategic contracts in accordance with corporate requirements, supporting legal requirements and procedures to secure and protect the business interests of the company in matters related to contracts.

Qualifications – External

About you

  • Qualified lawyer in a recognized jurisdiction with minimum 8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong experience and knowledge of international privacy and data protection legislation, including GDPR
  • Knowledge of data protection impact assessments and data processing agreements
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written English communication skills
  • Proven senior influencing and relationship management skills to balance and manage diverse stakeholder interests
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills
  • CIPP/E or CIPM preferred
