
Events Specialist

Key Accountabilities:
- Design and plan internal Museum events
- Establish and manage relationships with social media influencers and organize influencers’ events to increase awareness of the museum’s program.
- Effectively communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain best prices and delivery timeline
- Collaborate with central departments to ensure events run smoothly and are supportive of the overall mission of Mathaf.
- Overseeing the details of the event, welcoming guests, solving problems, directing event set-up, communicating with staff and organizing vendors.
- Coordinate with event designer, lighting specialist, audio/video specialist, art handlers, construction team, curators and visiting artists to ensure events are implemented on time and as per the specifications of all stakeholders.
- Assist the Head of Shared Services in the development of department processes and procedures
- Ability to delegate event planning tasks to other staff members where necessary
- Work closely with the exhibitions team, exhibitors and partners to coordinate promotional content for major exhibitions, Designers in Residence and events
- Independently work with external suppliers for onsite construction/electrical work leading up to the execution of an event
- Support the museum with a range of press requests including images, interviews, photo calls, events and filming, in coordination with Qatar Museums PR
- Develop, compile and edit content, and publish Mathaf newsletter every month
- Attend all the events of Mathaf
Qualifications/Requirements:
- More than 3 years of experience in event planning in a hotel, convention centre or corporate environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with public guests and internal personnel
- Ability to manage resources and time efficiently
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects
- High level of independent judgment, displaying an ability to understand and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion
- Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of Photoshop, Web Content Management Systems, Social Media and photography
