About the Role:

Qatar Airways is pleased to announce an opportunity to join the CAMO division as a Senior External Maintenance Oversight Engineer within the External Maintenance Oversight department.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual who will be responsible for executing maintenance cost control and oversight activities for Qatar Airways’ external and internal MRO operations. You will ensure accurate validation of invoices, monitoring of maintenance events, and

compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. You will provide technical and analytical support to optimize maintenance costs, improve operational efficiency, and maintain airworthiness standards.

Accountabilities Include, But Not Limited To

  • Support implementation of cost governance strategies and oversight processes for external maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing maintenance costs and enhancing operational reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with Qatar Airways’ maintenance policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Assist in developing reporting tools and dashboards for cost tracking and performance monitoring.
  • Being the point of contact for issues arising with Qatar Airways’ departments relating to outsourcing issues and support resolution of these issues. This will include leading a team comprising of Material and Planning persons.
  • Ensure proper training is given to all relevant members of the selected MRO in relation to correct completion of all Qatar Airways paperwork, understanding of relevant Qatar Airways procedures and monitoring of such to ensure compliance. A complete and comprehensive understanding of the Interface Procedures is required and periodic checks to ensure that these procedures are being both effective and adhered to.
  • Review and agree additional work that is over and above the contracted services. Liaise with the Management team from all stakeholders to ensure targets are achieved and all over and above man hours and materials charges are controlled and accurate.
  • Develop the project cost control database and procedures to enable timely agreement of maintenance event invoices in accordance with the Joint Procedures Manual in place.
  • Recommend contractual terms for inclusion in liaison with Qatar Airways departments. This includes raising of incoming defects and communication out-going defects to Qatar Airways MOCC
  • Validate maintenance invoices, including routine and non-routine charges, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contracts.
  • Monitor maintenance event progress at internal and external MRO facilities and report deviations from agreed timelines or cost parameters.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the MROs.
  • Track man-hour and material consumption for non-routine tasks and prepare variance analysis reports.
  • Liaise with external Part 145 organizations to ensure adherence to maintenance event plans and critical paths.
  • Escalate discrepancies or delays to the Manager and support recovery planning to prevent TAT slippage.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits, governance reviews, and compliance checks.
  • Prepare cost summaries, trend analyses, and KPI reports for management review.

About You

  • Aviation industry experience, including at least 3 years of experience in the area of Budget, Cost control and data analytics
  • B1 or B2 EASA/QCAA license with commercial aircraft approvals for at least 2 Qatar Airways wide body aircraft types
  • Strong Knowledge of Regulations (EASA & QCAA)
  • Expert knowledge of aircraft engineering and project management
  • Ability to expedite tasks firmly and diplomatically. Being able to exercise appropriate discretion and manage commercially sensitive data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • High level of proficiency in computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office Software
