The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy environment for guests, colleagues, contractors, and visitors at Raffles & Fairmont Doha. The role ensures full compliance with local laws, Qatar Civil Defence (QCDD) requirements, Accor standards, and international HSE best practices while supporting the luxury hospitality experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor hotel-wide Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programs
- Ensure compliance with Qatar labor law, QCDD regulations, and local HSE standards
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits across all hotel areas
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure compliance with Accor HSE standards and brand guidelines
- Monitor fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems in coordination with Engineering
- Conduct regular fire drills and emergency evacuation exercises
- Liaise with government authorities when needed and ensure all approvals, certifications, and renewals are maintained
- Train colleagues on fire safety, emergency response, and evacuation procedures
- Conduct HSE inductions for new employees and contractors
- Deliver regular safety training sessions (manual handling, chemical safety, PPE, emergency response)
- Promote a strong safety culture across all departments
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate safety records
- Recommend and follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with hotel safety standards
- Review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for all contractor works
- Ensure proper permits to work are issued and followed
- Maintain safety logs, inspection reports, MSDS records, and training documentation
- Prepare monthly HSE reports for management review
- Support internal and external safety audits
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field
- NEBOSH IGC or equivalent HSE certification (preferred)
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in safety roles, preferably in luxury hotels, hospitality, or large mixed-use developments
- Strong knowledge of Qatar HSE laws and QCDD requirements
- Experience working within ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 frameworks is an advantage
