As the Surface Drainage Lead, you will spearhead the design, planning, and execution of stormwater management systems across major infrastructure and development projects in Qatar. You’ll provide expert guidance in hydraulic and hydrological modeling, ensuring compliance with local regulations and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive planning, design, and delivery of stormwater and drainage systems for infrastructure and urban development
  • Manage hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, including flood risk analyses and drainage impact assessments
  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, overseeing deliverables and ensuring adherence to design standards and codes
  • Review and validate design calculations, drawings, and reports for accuracy and compliance
  • Implement water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) principles, integrating sustainable solutions
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies to secure technical approvals and manage queries
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful deliverables
  • Mentor and develop early- and mid-career engineers, enhancing team capabilities
  • Coordinate with CAD/BIM teams to ensure integrated system design approaches

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Hydraulic, Hydrology, or Water Engineering; Master’s level preferred
  • Minimum 15+ years of hands-on experience in stormwater drainage and water infrastructure design
  • Proven expertise in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools specifically in InfoWorks ICM for both 1D and 2D modelling. Other tools are beneficial (e.g., SWMM, StormCAD, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS)
  • Proficient with GIS and CAD/BIM tools (e.g., ArcMap, QGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation; Qatar (MME) registration preferred or to be completed within six months from joining
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Prior experience in Qatar/the Middle East is highly advantageous
