Purpose of the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Subsurface Sr. Data Management Analyst to join a major player in the energy sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting digital transformation initiatives within upstream and subsurface operations, implementing advanced cloud-based solutions, enhancing subsurface data workflows, and driving data governance standards across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and implementation of digital transformation strategies for upstream and subsurface domains.

• Deploy and integrate leading subsurface applications such as Petrel, Techlog, Studio, Compass, Kappa, OFM, and DecisionSpace.

• Design and establish cloud-based solutions (Azure, AWS) for subsurface and upstream operations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional upstream teams to identify and deliver data-driven solutions aligned with recognised industry frameworks such as DAMA and PPDM.

• Develop, implement, and optimise data processes, governance models, and workflows to improve upstream and subsurface data quality and accessibility.

• Drive process automation, optimisation initiatives, and continuous improvement in data management practices.

• Support data analytics, visualisation projects (using Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau), and data migration activities.

• Apply agile methodologies to project delivery for rapid deployment and iteration of digital solutions.

Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Geoscience, or a related technical discipline.

Minimum Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within upstream or subsurface digital transformation initiatives.

• Experience implementing and supporting subsurface applications within the last 5 years.

• Proven experience establishing cloud-based solutions within the last 3 years.

• Direct involvement in developing and implementing data processes or guidelines for upstream data projects within the past 5 years.

• Strong understanding of industry standards such as DAMA and PPDM for data governance.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in subsurface applications (Petrel, Techlog, Studio, Compass, Kappa, OFM, DecisionSpace).

• Cloud computing platforms experience (Azure, AWS) including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models.

• Subsurface and wells data management best practices.

• Scripting skills (Python, IronPython, PowerShell, VBA) to automate workflows.

• Data visualisation and analytics using tools like Power BI, Spotfire, and Tableau.

• Process improvement, agile delivery, and continuous improvement methodologies.
