About The Role

In this role you will be required to support the Product Development & Quality Control team in expanding DQ’s Qatar-based product portfolio at the best price and in a timely manner. You will also be responsible to ensure that all the contracted suppliers meet the quality standards set by Discover Qatar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source suppliers and manage their relationship (setup regular calls and on-site quality control inspections) to ensure best products, positioning, service quality, ROI, and pricing, of DQ/QRH products in the market.
  • Assist with developing product and negotiating competitive rates for ground services to key partners including cruise lines, charter flights and Privilege Club Collection.
  • Ensure precise system loading and on time release of all products.
  • Negotiate appropriate tactical offers, value adds and unique services to support sales and marketing campaigns, including seasonal activities and special events (Ramadan, Formula One etc.)
  • Analyze and benchmark competitor products and, rates, tactical offers and monitor sales performance, negotiate discounts and override commissions (ORC).
  • Conduct accurate review of contract amendments received from DQ service suppliers.
  • Administer the contract forms, templates and procedures in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist and support internal stakeholders (operations, sales, marketing, finance, etc.) for any matters arising relating to supplier contracts.
  • Identify bottlenecks and propose corrective measures to Line Manager.
  • Prepare and provide e-briefs, presentations and training to DQ internal stakeholders.
  • Perform physical check at supplier site on random, but planned basis, to verify quality.
  • Follow set standard operations procedures and ensure terms specified in supplier contracts are followed with regards to the booking process, payment, and financial terms.
  • Perform other department duties as directed by the Head of the Department.

About You

  • Relevant Vocational, Tertiary or Trade qualification with minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Travel industry qualifications e.g. IATA / UFTAA
  • Preferably have experience in a product department of a tour operating or travel management company.
  • A proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to demonstrate key areas of success.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written English.
  • Data Analysis and ability to articulate to external customers.
  • Experience in reviewing contracts and working on manual cost sheets.
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Flexible and open, never give up attitude and have the ability to work under pressure.
  • Good geographical and destination knowledge.
