Siemens Mobility is currently operating and maintaining the Education City Tram network. The People Mover System (PMS) is the first low floor catenary-free tram system in the world. It uses a Hybrid Energy System (HES) which incorporates a combination of super-capacitors and batteries to power the tram between charging locations along the line. It is manually operated on line of sight rules and the system is being designed in compliance with BO Strab regulations and guidance. 11 km of track serves both the North and South Campuses of Education City and 19 trams of the Siemens Avenio range are in operation. Siemens Mobility is seeking to strengthen its Team of Tram Drivers professionals. To be successful in the role, you will have to be of a rigorous character, a fervent Team player with a sense of ownership.
Role Responsibilities
- Supervises Tram Drivers activity daily and instructs when required
- Ensures that Tram Drivers apply all rules and procedures to provide passengers with a safe and efficient service
- Verifies that all equipment failures or events are reported by Tram Supervise & monitoring of Tram Drivers
- Support tram operations (delays, quality of service, etc.) daily in cooperation with the Operations & Maintenance Control Centre Controllers
- Monitor and assist the daily performance of the Tram Drivers
- Carry out Tram Driver job performance assessments against the Tra Driver Observation Sheet, providing feedback to the Tram Driver and additional support, coaching or training where required
- Carry out Competence Assessments of Tram Drivers against the Tram Driver Competency Management System assessment pack
- Conduct weekly/monthly/quarterly feedback sessions with Tram Drivers and complete the Annual Performance appraisal process for Tram Drivers of their own teams
- When necessary, cover Tram Driver duties until a replacement Tram Drivers can be arranged
- Manage Tram Driver roster, using spare Tram Drivers etc tocover gaps
- Conduct the Duty Sign-on process for Tram Drivers, ensuring that they meet uniform, fitness for work and Drugs & Alcohol standards, and sign the Daily Briefing Register,
- Monitor the status of all equipment and facilities on Stations/Stops and reports failures and issues to the OMCC Controller.
- Act as an Incident Officer when requested by the OMCC Controller, until relived by a more senior manager, liaising with emergency services, OMCC Controller and Senior Management.
- Check Part A of the Incident Report form submitted by Tram Drivers for accuracy and completeness and complete part B, and provide support to the Operations Daily Controller and Operations Manager for incident investigations
- Make proposals for improvement of tram operations to the Operations Manager
- Assists during T&C activities of new equipment or systems
- Support the Daily Operation Controller/Operations Manager in carrying out document development/improvement
- Liaison and perform duties assigned by Daily Operations Controller /
Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
In a good physical condition : Meets requirements of fitness class 1 (may be requested to take over a Tram from a Tram Driver).
- Minimum 10 years of successful school education or degree / diploma or equivalent;
- Good command spoken and written English language
- At least 3 years of experience working in operations on a tram, train or metro system
- Ability to organise tasks and set priorities
- Good understanding of rail public transport operations process, rules and procedures
- Ability to analyse, respond and make decisions in accordance with operations rules and procedures
- Good understanding of safety/environmental/quality rules
- Ability to understand and explain operations related rules, regulations and procedures
- Good analysis and reporting skills
- Ability to plan, organise and make decisions without supervision or guidance.
- Good command of both spoken and written English language
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
- Holder of a valid qatar driving license
