JOB PURPOSE:
Ensuring accurate and timely Financial & Regulatory Reporting in compliance with accounting standards and applicable regulations. Maintaining a robust financial control process and governance. Supervising the Financial reporting, Regulatory reporting and Tax & Control teams.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Financial Reporting
- Review of statutory financial statements – quarterly and annual for timely publishing to the Stock exchanges and the regulators
- Ensure that financial statements are aligned to applicable accounting standards and CB Finance policy
- Ensure that a robust financial statement close process is in place
- Annual report review (Finance section)
- Liaison with external auditors to ensure all information and explanation is provided for their quarterly reviews and annual audit
Regulatory Reporting
- Review of QCB reporting
- Supervision and monitoring of the QCB reporting process including appropriate controls around data integrity
- Provide appropriate technical advice to team on implementation of new regulatory reports
Financial Controls
- Review performance of finance department through monthly thematic dashboard and key performance indicators to identify lagging and risk areas and recommend appropriate action.
- Attend CB ORAP meetings on new projects and products and provide sign off from Finance perspective
- Pro-actively engage with Internal & External auditors and regulator communications and affairs to identify and manage emerging and existing financial control risks.
Process Control and Improvements
- Supervise enhancement of comprehensive cyclical general ledger balance attestation, testing and deep-drive review on internal accounts.
- Enhance governance on Financial and Regulatory Reporting.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Recommend improvements to functional procedure and direct the implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific area of activity so that all activities are conducted in compliance with risk, audit, and regulatory requirements while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Related Assignments
- Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor/Master degree in Business/Finance/Accounts or equivalent.
- Qualified Accountant. e.g: CA, ACCA, CPA etc.
Minimum Experience:
- 15+ years’ relevant experience in reporting, audit and internal controls including at least 5 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities.
Knowledge, & Other skills:
- Knowledge of accounting and controls terminology and ability to communicate their meaning to non-financial managers
- Knowledge of Accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Leadership skills
- Proficiency in Ms Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good English speaking and writing skills.
