An exciting opportunity for Communications Specialist within Technical Strategy & Transformation Department based in Doha, Qatar.

Project and promote Qatar Airways Technical to a full range of internal and, with the support of the Corporate Communications Department, external media audiences. Involves all facets of internal communication as well as working closely with key stakeholders to oversee and ensure full communications strategy is delivered with effective, streamlined messaging that is aligned to the Technical business. Interaction with different corporate departments and to effectively communicate messaging using a full range of tools including events liaison, press releases, speeches, Q&A, presentations, memo’s and newsletters. Whilst reporting directly to the Technical Management, will be closely working with the HQ Corporate Communications Team

Strategic Accountabilities;

  • Lead on, implement and execute Qatar Airways Technical’ s corporate communications strategy, acting as subject matter expert to ensure that communications are aligned to Technical Division strategy and company values.
  • Take full accountability for Technical Division internal communications, to plan, develop and maintain a range of integrated communications tools and to provide advice and support to Technical management across the business division.
  • Develop the internal Technical Division’s ongoing communications plan (e.g. Divisional communications, monthly Newsletter, key messages) in order to ensure the proper communication is delivered to the division in a timely manner.
  • Develop internal communication tools with support of leadership team and HR, to promote the Technical Division vision and strategy.
  • Evaluate media opportunities and make recommendations to maximize visibility of Technical Division
  • Identify positive PR story ideas / angles to promote Technical Division to drive publicity, which in turn helps the division to drive increased revenues and profitability by means of liaison with different departments within the company.
  • Prepare presentations for internal and external audiences, writing press releases for Technical Division and speeches for the CTO and senior management for media-related events and workshops. Support media requests regarding Technical Division.
  • Prepare written statements for and on behalf of the CTO and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Thoughtfully react in the event of negative coverage.
  • Manage regular exchanges of information with Head Office, ensuring key messaging is disseminated to generate positive coverage.
  • Responsible for keeping all communications material up to date, delivering information on a pro-active basis to key company stakeholders.
  • Perform other department duties related to the position as directed by the HOD.

Qualifications

  • High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification /Diploma or Equivalent (Type of Diploma Based on Role) with Minimum 5 years of job-related experience OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 4 years of job-related experience.
  • Solid work experience in an Internal Communications environment.
  • Ability to quickly understand aviation related industry issues and communicate effectively
  • Ability to write and edit internal communications.
  • Computer packages such as Power Point, Excel and Word
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Fluency in Arabic is an advantage.
