Job Summary And Purpose

Provide oversight and due diligence inspection of all areas of the shipbuilder’s facilities to ensure that all the shareholder’s SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, and Security) policies are implemented and adhered to at the site. Ensure that the entire on-site construction supervision staff operates and functions in a safe working environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct regular inspection and provide oversight of the shipbuilder’s production facilities at this site. Paying attention to all potential SHES issues and initiation of action to ensure that all working conditions and practices are in complete accordance with the shareholder’s SHES policies.
  • Ensure that the shipbuilder’s efforts fully meet the expectations of the shareholder and are in accordance with the Contract, Specifications, approved plans, and the various memorandums of agreement.
  • Bring all areas of SHES concern to the immediate attention of the Safety Coordinator and the Site Team Manager.

  • Adhere to all relevant SHEQ policies, procedures, instructions, and controls so that NAKILAT provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Others

  • Carry out any other related duties as directed by HSEQ Lead to support the shipbuilding initiatives and projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills

  • Diploma in Marine Engineering, or any equivalent Maritime/ Shipping qualification.
  • Internationally recognized safety training would be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Miimum five (5) years’ experience of direct shipbuilding experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Or three (3) years’ experience as safety inspector in marine projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the ship design and construction business.

Job Specific Skills

  • Good written and spoken English language skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, to be used when dealing with individuals of various levels of authority and of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Proficient in the use of word processor and spreadsheet software (especially Microsoft Word and Excel), including the ability to prepare professional status reports.
