Position Overview:

The Purchasing Buyer for the Engineering Department at Raffles and Fairmont Doha will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services essential for the operation and maintenance of the hotel’s engineering department. The ideal candidate will ensure the timely procurement of high-quality and cost-effective materials while adhering to company policies and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement and Sourcing:
    • Identify and evaluate suppliers, vendors, and contractors for engineering-related goods and services.
    • Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends and emerging suppliers.
    • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve the best possible deals.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand for engineering materials and supplies.
    • Ensure timely replenishment of stock to avoid shortages and downtime.
    • Implement and manage inventory control systems to track and manage supplies efficiently.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and address any issues or concerns promptly.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier agreements.
    • Prepare and submit reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
  • Budget Management:
    • Assist in the preparation and management of the engineering department’s budget.
    • Monitor and control procurement expenditures to stay within budgetary constraints.
    • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with the engineering team to understand their requirements and provide timely support.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless procurement processes.
    • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of engineering materials, equipment, and supplies is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
