Your Day to Day
As the Director of Sales, you will oversee and direct aspects of the hotel’s sales operations, including direct sales, sales solicitation, sales administration, reservation management. In the absence of the DOSM, you will assume all their responsibilities. You will oversee a team of sales professionals, ensuring exceptional service delivery and maintain a strong client relationship within the luxury hospitality sector.
You will also be responsible to:
- Assist in the production of the annual Revenue Plan in conjunction with Executive Committee members, Sales and Marketing budgets and forecasts
- Assist in the production, implementation and monitoring of action plans to ensure Revenue Plan objectives are achieved through the areas of the Sales force
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue goals and expand market share in alignment with the hotel’s overall business objectives
- Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and accounts, negotiating contracts and ensuring their needs are met with the highest standards of service
- Procure new and repeat business for the hotel by monitoring contact with airlines, travel agencies, commercial houses, private clubs and professional associations within local, domestic and international markets
- Maintain contact with planners, corporate accounts incentive buyers, airlines and wholesalers, through personal sales calls, telephone contacts and written communications.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to recommend strategies and tactics that drive continuous improvement and competitive advantage
- Ensure the hotel is represented as an active member of the local community through association membership
- Coordinate sales and promote business for the other IHG hotels within the region.
- Interact with worldwide regional sales offices with particular attention to local office. Keep strong working relationships with counterparts from the immediate region.
- Plan and execute sales trips to major market areas.
- Direct all sales activities for Sales Managers to ensure they meet the goals of the Revenue Plan
- Ensure that the training needs of the department are identified and that within their area of control training is systematically planned, implemented and evaluated according to IHG standards, and as specified in the InterContinental Doha Training Policy
- Carry out personnel related duties to include but not limited to: interviewing, induction, appraising, coaching, counseling, and where necessary, disciplining to ensure staffing and productivity as appropriate
- Assist in the production of monthly Sales reports and weekly forecasts, where needed
- Meet with guests from major producers/organizers of big events staying in the hotel to ensure customer satisfaction
- Organize and attend major sales/PR related functions within the hotel
- Review the daily business levels, anticipate critical situations and plan effective solutions, in conjunction with the department heads, to best expedite these situations
- Conduct Management Development and Performance Review for all sales managers and office manager
- Assist in the creation and distribution of promotional programs to increase hotel revenue
- Communicate market trends, occupancy fluctuations and need periods through the head of department to the Executive Committee and recommend corrective measures
- Join in the weekly Yield Meeting with the Reservations Management to review high and low demand periods for the hotel and adjust the selling strategies accordingly
- Assists the DOSM with the Revenue Room tasks and is responsible for the proper compiling of the competition and segmentation boards
- Set goals for each sales manager to achieve revenue plan objectives
- Build relationships with internal and external customers to gain their commitment and support
What We Need From You
Ideally, you’ll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in hotel sales management, preferably in a luxury hospitality environment
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing sales teams
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement effective sales strategies
- Flexibility to travel as needed to accommodate business needs
