About the Role:

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial integrity and reporting accuracy of our client. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and specific knowledge of the power and utilities sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and contributing to strategic financial planning and is expected to have working knowledge of

  • Billing & Reconciliations
  • Revenue & Collection
  • General Accounting


  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and regulatory standards.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reviews, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with ICOFR requirements and other relevant financial regulations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations and financial initiatives.
  • Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in accounting and finance.
  • Ensure monitoring and collection of payments.
  • Review and advise on customer accounts.
  • Review policies and recommend enhancements to improve services.
  • Prepare management and ad hoc reports.
  • Coach, supervise, and train new accountants.
  • Maintain an up-to-date billing system.
  • Maintain accounts receivable customer files and records.
  • Identify Training and Development needs.
  • Manage the monthly review process of assets.
  • Participate in the physical inventory count with the Support Services Team.
  • Annual Impairment Review.
  • Recommend changes to strengthen internal control.


  • Recommend changes to strengthen internal control.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. Qualified professional degree preferred (e.g., MBA, CMA, ACCA) with minimum of 8 years’ experience with recognized firms.
  • Working knowledge of JDE-ERP system is an added advantage.
  • Highly numerate, with developed analytical skills using qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in common word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.
  • Utilities sector experience is an added advantage.
  • Preferable bi-lingual with mastery of written and spoken Arabic and English.
