About the job

The incumbent will work closely with the Department Head – Strategy & Corporate Performance in managing the Strategic Planning section of the bank. The incumbent will work closely with the Department Head and respective stakeholders in the development and implementation of the strategic planning and reporting framework for the bank, as well as facilitate the preparation of divisional and branch plans in alignment with the corporate plan. The job holder will analyze and provide strategic insight in formulation of plans, in line with the vision of the CEO and the BOD. The incumbent will also manage assessments post implementation of strategy to ensure sustainable business benefits. The job holder will support employees within the section in efficient operations of day-to-day tasks in accordance with internal guidelines

  • Work closely with the Department Head – Strategy & Corporate Performance in the development of the strategic plan/framework for the Bank, as per the directives set by the CEO and the Board of Directors.
  • Extend support to the respective Department / Function Heads towards the development of detailed annual business plans and operational targets based on the strategic objectives.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of the functional activities and initiatives within the Strategic Planning section to the objectives and mission of the bank.
  • Develop and maintain robust working relationships with internal/external stakeholders to facilitate and capitalize on functional / operational/ strategic needs.
  • Keep abreast of, and apprise the management on industry trends, economic events, and regulatory requirements/changes set by QCB and other relevant government bodies; effectively communicate these to the team/management, to effect changes in the section, including but not limited to section deliverables, staffing of employees, etc.
  • Contribute towards the formulation, and, oversee effective implementation of the Quality Assurance plans and policies, in line with the Doha Bank’s strategic business objectives in close coordination with the Department Head
  • Work closely with the business units in evaluating and outlining strategic planning needs / gaps to support enhancement / development opportunities.
  • Facilitate the strategy implementation in collaboration with the Heads of respective departments, ensuring completion of strategic actions at different levels to achieve expected results.
  • Collaborate with the Heads of respective departments on formulation of a solid communication plan ensuring information circulation effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Manage the formulation, and implementation of pertinent performance measures /metrics and operational indicators in terms of the strategic initiatives.
  • Manage the creation, measurement and evaluation of the organizational dashboard for enhancing organizational effectiveness.
  • Guide the team on research efforts to provide competitive intelligence on critical variations in the business setting to support the executive management in strategic decision making.
  • Manage the short-and long-term business planning sessions to support the Business Lines in defining the options to realize the business goals and direction.
  • Articulate possible alternatives for developing business cases and in proposing/executing recommendations in terms of the Strategic planning efforts.
  • Oversee that changes with respect to policy or process initiatives are in line with the business strategies.

Qualification, Experience & Skills Required

  • University graduate with a degree in Business or Banking or Finance or any other related discipline
  • 13-18 years’ experience in strategic planning in banking industry.
  • Experience in a global environment
  • Experience at a supervisory and management capacity.
  • Proven capacity in leading strategic planning and management framework.
  • Working knowledge of strategic modelling tools
  • Strategic and Operational Business Planning
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and practices
  • Knowledge of Performance measurement strategies and tools
  • Knowledge of business planning cycle and processes
  • Skill in analytics and data intelligence
  • Ability to develop market insights and market intelligence
