Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
  • Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
  • Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.
  • Identifies software necessary to enable piping group to function effectively.
  • Provide specialist technical support, supervision and advice to the discipline and project teams; participate in peer reviews;
  • Ensures recognised onshore & offshore engineering practices applicable to piping design and topside/plant layout are adopted within the discipline.
  • Knows the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, ensures the team to meets the expectations, and liaises with other disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Supports management of project change and progressing for the discipline and works with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability.
  • Plans discipline quality, monitors quality activities, drives squad checking, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.
  • Collaborates with project team in review of project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules.
  • Leads weekly piping meetings, reviews progress reports and required checking procedures.
  • Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.
  • Establish a list of discipline deliverables. Controls, monitors and progresses these deliverables to an agreed schedule.
  • Lead the production of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports .

Industry Specific Experience

  • Extensive Piping Engineering experience at a senior level within the Oil & Gas industry in both Onshore and Offshore projects.
  • Design & Engineering experience within the oil and gas industry, with recent experience leading a team of piping discipline engineers and designers.
  • Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience in the piping discipline in the same or similar industry, including experience managing and leading multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
  • Expertise on stress (unbalanced / transient conditions), complicated hot-tapping plugging of C3/C4 services, Inconel 625 materials specs and datasheets

Qualifications Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  • Full-Time bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage.
