We are currently looking for Materials Control Specialist who will be responsible for interacting with relevant stakeholders, investigate and take corrective actions from the material reports with analysis and action plans derived from the reports produced by business systems. This individual will verify the stores receiving/issuing process on all shifts as well as being the point of contact for Material Supervisors and other stakeholders. They will also implement efficient internal control measures on material movement and usage within the business as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain fiscal and quality compliance at each step of way. From goods receiving, storage and internal distribution during the cooking cycle, through to portioning, dishing and dispatch processes. Any discrepancy in either compliance must be highlighted for corrective action to the head of department.
- Maintain accurate records of material variances through each of the processes for audit purposes and trend analysis.
- Work with Lead Business Improvement Officer and Store Manager to reduce waste and implement Lean 5S and 7 Waste removal.
- Ensure effective verification processes are in place in order to have robust controls over the material movement within the business and business processes.
- Undertake investigations and lead corrective actions from actual vs theoretical report and other material report analysis.
- Ensure materials are received and issued in line with company policies, procedures and SOPs in order to control quality, safety, cost and wastage. Responsible for execution of improvements and efficiencies in terms of wastage, substitutions, inventory holding, critical items, slow moving stock involving all necessary stakeholders.
- Analyse daily consumption reports and drive necessary change to meet business needs.
- Verify wastage to ensure all recordings are accurate, analyse reasons for wastage with a view to reduce through trend analysis and feedback to stakeholders.
- Conduct assessments on substitutions in order to find root cause with a view to reduce.
- Prepare analysis and reports on material controls in order to drive efficiencies and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all operational processes are carried out in efficient and safe manner. Assist in the review and development of SOPs as and when required.
- Review inventory on a regular basis and determine slow or non-moving parts, obsolete parts, and surplus materials that can be offered on sale, loan or exchange to other airlines or companies.
Qualifications
High School Diploma with 6 years of job-related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of job-related experience.

- Advance knowledge of MS Office.
- Experience in recipe validation & analytical skills dealing with large data.
- Knowledge of Food Safety Management.
- Strong end-to-end understanding of food production.
- Experience conducting food and beverage audits.
- Clear understanding of yield checks.
- Worked in Chef/Kitchen operations.
- Managerial skills – ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong communication, mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate’s skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
