About The Role
As the Senior Legal Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing, analysing, drafting and monitoring policies, processes and procedures for Qatar Airways Data Protection Office and meet the requirements of its data protection program across Qatar Airways Group. To provide detailed advise to internal stakeholders on effective implementation and reporting of data protection related aspects of business processes. To prepare and deliver training and regular awareness to Qatar Airways and its subsidiaries and keep training content up to date. To act as Data Protection Office point of contact for assisting with relationship management of relevant User department (s).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Data Protection Office in monitoring the data protection policy and procedure implementation for an effective data protection program.
- Develop and maintain processes for Data Protection Office and contribute to Qatar Airways processes.
- Review and update data protection agreement templates to ensure compliance with all applicable data protection laws.
- Guide and support Qatar Airways divisions on the development of IT related processes e.g. AI enabled, to address data protection obligations and compliance
- Lead the development and implementation of Qatar Airways employee data protection training and awareness programs.
- Develop the data protection are on the regulatory change management activities, including monitoring of new regulations to Qatar Airways operations.
- Monitor applicable legislative compliance with regard to data protection.
- Ensure Qatar Airways divisions comply with all relevant company policies and procedures regarding the processing of personal data.
- Take responsibility for own ongoing personal development and growth of expertise.
- Support and monitor the assessment of personal data breaches for the Data Protection Office
Qualifications
About you
- Must hold Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 8 years of job-related experience
- Must be qualified as a lawyer in a recognised jurisdiction
- Must have work experience in a law firm or dedicated legal environment
- A job-related experience in a similar position
- Have worked in a medium or large sized matrixed/ cross-functional environment
- Fluent English speaking and writing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office package, particularly MS Word
- Keen eye for detail and strong presentation skills
- Proven track record of handling complex issues and negotiation
- Flexible in approach, with a “can do” attitude
