About The Role

As a Lead Insurance Officer you will be managing and overseeing all aspects of aviation and non aviation insurance claims within the organization. This includes analyzing, assessing, and resolving claims related to aircraft hull damage, liability, spares, passenger, baggage, and third-party incidents and non-aviation classes of insurance. Your role focuses on minimizing financial exposure while ensuring efficient and fair claims handling in compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. This position involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, such as technical teams, legal counsel, brokers, and insurers, to optimize claims processes and protect the QR Group’s interests.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end management of insurance claims, ensuring timely and efficient handling from notification to settlement.
  • Analyze incident reports and claim documents to determine coverage applicability and assess liability and damages.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to mitigate financial losses for the company.
  • As appropriate, execute and oversee the recovery of QR’s financial losses from third parties (be they suppliers, service providers, airport authorities or any other third party organisations).
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather relevant information for claims assessment and provide advises and draft e-mails/ documents.
  • Act as the primary liaison with insurance brokers, reinsurers, adjusters, and legal advisors to facilitate smooth claims processing and dispute resolution.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in insurance laws and regulations and adjust claims handling processes as necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all claims-related activities and documentation.
  • Prepare detailed reports on claims status, trends, and outcomes for senior management, highlighting any potential financial exposures or emerging risks.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline claims handling processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to internal teams on claims management and insurance coverage policies.
  • Ensure effective communication with claimants and other stakeholders, delivering a high level of service and support.
  • Manage sensitive and high-profile claims with professionalism, ensuring that reputational risks are minimized.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department

Qualifications

About you

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent with Minimum of 5 years insurance experience
  • OR 7 years’ commercial / corporate insurance experience for candidates without a bachelor’s degree
  • Significant understanding of the fundamental principles of insurance and their application in a commercial context
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Insurance principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to function under pressure and work on various projects simultaneously.
  • Have participated and prepared technical evaluation reports and commercial evaluation reports.
  • Experience in tender preparation, reviewing quotations from suppliers, bid price analysis.
  • Ability to grasp new areas of Insurance rapidly and accurately.
  • Excellent ability to focus on detail
