You will perform the function Engine Condition Monitoring (ECM) mandated by regulations by receiving engine technical performance data trends and customer notification alerts, review them and initiate necessary steps to take corrective actions or ensure compliance of recommendations, then follow up for implantation and effectiveness of the corrective actions. Produce various engine parameter trend plots and reports for Qatar Airways and contracted customers’ reference. Assist Power Plant Development Engineers in managing engine related technical matters, providing with necessary data and preliminary analysis to assist decision making.

Operational Accountabilities;

  • Review of parameter and performance trend data for all engines in Qatar Airways fleet and for customer fleets, through OEM provided software such as ADEM, Aero manger, my GE Aviation, My Boeing Fleet and Airman. To perform Engine Health Monitoring activities similar to those done for QTR fleet just carried out for Qatar Amiri and Qatar Executive as per terms and conditions of the service contract signed between the two organizations.
  • Collecting Engine performance trend data and scrutinize it for accuracy and any anomalous behavior, analyze any anomalous behavior noted and monitor deteriorating critical parameters in accordance with Engine type recommendation/ base lines.
  • Monitor and follow up with Defect Control/MOCC for scheduling of all alert notifications issued by engine manufacturers for any trend deviations. When adverse shift in parameters is observed, promptly alert relevant departments\sections to carry out trouble shooting.
  • Verify effectiveness of trouble shooting by further monitoring of the affected engine once completed and provide feedback to relevant departments\sections and the issuing manufacturer.
  • Prepare management briefs on engine health.
  • Preparation of daily performance status of all engines including “Engines under Watch” which are currently under investigation and exclusive monitoring.
  • Preparing Engine and APU Oil Consumption report by compiling engine \ APU oil uplifts and applying mathematical analysis methods to convert uplifts into rates.
  • Compare and report back oil uplift rates comparison with Engine manufacturers’ recommendation.
  • To ensure that OEM advisories are addressed and closed within specified interval in coordination with Engineering Planning and MOCC.
  • To ensure data base is maintained for all the OEM generated alerts/notifications along with the closing trouble shooting actions, to support EDE-PP to address common trends by introducing preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Perform other department duties related to his position as directed by the Management.

  • Compiling and publishing Biweekly Qatar executive ECM Summary
  • Compiling and publishing Biweekly Qatar Amiri ECM Summary
  • Compiling and publishing Monthly Qatar Airways EGT Summary.
  • Sharing Qatar executive engine data weekly with OSys (BD 700) and GE Team (CL600)

Qualifications

  • Relevant College or University qualification to min Bachelor’s level in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • With an Airline or MRO in a similar function.
  • ECM Certification on ADEM
  • Good understanding of Aero Engine performance
  • Engine type training on at least one type operated by Qatar Airways.
